Today I hosted an Easter brunch for some friends and family. We had a ton of food: French Toast Casserole with berry compote, Mushroom, Leek & Gruyere Frittata with caramelized onions, Maple & red pepper glazed bacon, Spiral Cut Ham, Home fries, Fruit salad,Coconut Cake with Peeps & Jelly Beans, Iced Tea & Lemonade (to make Arnold palmers), and Mimosas (I didn't partake).
I grabbed the handle of the frittata pan without realizing it hadn't cooled off at all, and burned my hand in 6 places. I iced it for over 8 hours and it's finally feeling normal enough to use my hand to hold the phone and such. Everyone did a phenomenal job helping me out cooking, cleaning up & making sure I could eat and had as much comfort with my burning hand with ice packs and such.
Here's the fam photo we took, I failed to get a friends one :-/
I think it's fairly obvious... it's a photo of the day. Sometimes they'll represent the day, sometimes just something I saw, did, enjoyed, laughed about.

Cinderella, Take 2
I joined my aunt & uncle for Rogers & Hammerstein's Cinderella. We had great center seats in the 2nd row of the front mezzanine. It was great to see it again so soon after it opened. I was excited to see the changes that they made after the previews. It is really an amazing show. I can't wait to see it again.

Buffet Lunch
We went to Ichi Umi, a Japanese buffet in Koreatown for lunch today. I ate so much that I am still full nearly 12 hours later! Sushi, oysters, and squid, oh my.

Domo Taco
Trying new trucks make me happy. Today was Domo Taco, an Asian influenced taco truck parked a few blocks from the office. I had Japanese Tot Nachos with bonito flakes and a chicken burrito. Not my favorite truck, but I enjoyed trying something new.

Cleaned Out Fireplace
I had been using my decorative fireplace for baking supply storage. Tonight I moved everything into a supplemental pantry and will decorate with candles... A photo for another day.

Cardboard Problem
Shipping boxes, boxes from the frames, from the photos, from the light fixture. So much cardboard. It's entertaining to me how much cardboard recycling I always have.

Ghost Photo
I unlocked my phone to take a photo to post, but saw the ghost photo and wanted to share. I don't remember taking a photo (other than my food, of course). But this was pretty awesome to find on my phone.

Channeling Warhol
I was looking for a photo of a gerbera daisy. I saw 4 and couldn't pick which one I wanted, so I got them all. I hung them in my bedroom in a Warholesque pattern. Loving the new bright & flowery addition to my room.

Dining Light
Today Jonathan and Shawn helped me hang my new light fixture and some more pictures in my dining area.
I'm in love with how my visions are coming together!

I wanted a photo of Laguna in my room. My bedding is lavender & when I saw this print, it was perfect! Framed, hung, and making me smile. Thanks Christine for helping!

Snowy Start to Spring
Spring started this week, officially. Trees are budding, tulips have started sprouting, but today it snowed. I saw this planter which was a diorama of spring creeping through the winter.

It's a Bird... It's a Plane... It's Superman
Aimee, Vanessa and Jordan joined me for the Encores production of It's a Bird... It's a Plane... It's Superman at City Center.
It was fun, super cheesy, modeled after a comic book. Vanessa said it reminded her of Bye Bye Birdie.

Farewell CRae
Courtney left today.
Our chaos, fun times, catching up, amazing views and constant party has come to its end.
Until next time, my friend... New York and I hope to see you again soon!

Groundhog Lies
Punxsutawney Phil is a big fat liar! This is the second snow in 3 days. Early spring... Ha! You were wrong, Mr. Groundhog.

Green Skyline
I kinda forgot was St. Patrick's day. The parade and corned beef happened yesterday because the church won't allow the parade to happen on Sundays. Most of the green and scene was yesterday. But the green skyline made it quite clear. Thanks CRae for hooking me up with a view to take a clear shot of NYC's St. Patty's day skyline. xo

It's snowing... It's snowing... It's snowing!!!
There was a lot of spinning and singing in circles when Courtney discovered it was snowing outside. We had a fun walk back from brunch. This was a cute shot before it was snowing so hard that we looked any worse after so little sleep! I look super Asain, but hey...

Paper Anniversary with A2
Oli orchestrated a surprise dinner for Aimee & Andrew's 1st wedding anniversary. It was a nice dinner at Sarabeth's on Central Park South. For dessert, Oli & Michael picked up a beautiful cake and had it lit by the server. Candle lit photo of our happy couple!

White Smoke
A new pope...White smoke. Big news of the day. I am not Catholic and have never paid much attention to the pope, but it's historical and should be noted as such.

Easter Candy Is My Favorite!
I love candy. I especially love Easter candy. Cadbury mini eggs are the ultimate in candy coated chocolate goodness. It upsets me that they are only available at this time of year, but it makes them such a treat! I was at the pharmacy today and picked up a new inhaler and Cadbury treats. I only got the small bag and a caramel egg, and didn't even eat them yet! Just having the option to eat them makes me so happy!

Bachelor Finale
I'm taking this opportunity to reveal the shame of my guilty pleasure... I went back to watching the Bachelor. Sad but true. Cheering for the Filipino halfer made me smile after a craptasic day, so deal with it, haters!

Out Desserted
My sister sent me a photo of her mochi ice cream with toothpick swords that she split with her friend Amanda.
She said, "and yes we dueled".
I followed up by sending my super fancy dessert topped with spun sugar & she told Amanda they'd been out desserted.

Fiesta Woolf!
David Woolf, my friend and coworker, turned 28 this week. I schlepped out to Brooklyn to join in on his birthday celebration. iMaps told me it would take 54 minutes door to door, so I left 90 mins before, planning to stop a few times. It took me almost 90 mins after my stops were done. Stupid subway construction! It was a lot of fun to meet his friends, his mom, and his brother that I'd heard so much about. Plus we all ate a Mexican feast that he prepared.
I made him a card using a photo we took together at Scott's birthday party. Tonight I made him take a photo with me for next year's card (but mostly for tonight's blog post!)

International Women's Day
I met Flo, Iana, Iana's mom, Simona and Maite in the east village for International Women's Day. We ended up at a Filipino restaurant. I taught them about Filipino food & sauces. We had two bottles of wine to make a few toasts, a family style meal and a fun time with friends.

Haircut
I was feeling more tragic than usual, so I went to get a haircut. Wanted a trim and some shape to it. Here's a view from the back and the layers from the front. Turned our pretty well.

Tinkle Sprinkle
This will end up being a rant more than a comment on the day using a photo. But seriously, ladies... We are grown women, professionals working in Manhattan at an Ivy League medical school. Do we really need signs like this posted in the bathroom in order to successfully use it and keep it in reasonable shape enough for the next person?! Ridiculous.

Fascinators
There's a store near my apartment with high end clothing...furs, designer gowns, etc. Passing by today, I laughed at the fascinators in the window. Mostly because one was almost exactly the same as the ones Christine and I were playing around with at Claire's in Connecticut.

Lakers!
I haven't said much, if anything, about the Lakers this year. Talking about a team who isn't super successful isn't much fun. I fell asleep early last night & woke up to these tweets. They made me laugh & honestly were the most noteworthy part of my not so great day. Let's Go Lakers!

Forever Dusty
We had some free time in our schedule before Cathy & Lauren returned to California tonight.
Lauren wanted to see Forever Dusty: a new musical about Dusty Springfield or Motown the Musical. The choice was easy since Motown hasn't yet started previews.
I ordered tdf tickets and we got seats in the front row. We all enjoyed it, deciding that the woman who played Claire was our favorite. She had a great voice and amazing stage presence... All-around phenomenal, even though we saw the understudy. It's hard to imagine the usual woman could be as great.

Guest Volunteers in the Soup Kitchen
Cathy and Lauren joined me (and Shawn) in the soup kitchen. Not the way most people would want to spend the Saturday of their weekend in New York, but I was so happy to give them a glimpse into my volunteering world. We did work hard, but it was an amazing day!

Awake through 3 Hours of Shakespeare
A high school friend, Michael Irish, is the stage combat captain and performer at the Pearl Theater's production of Henry IV, Part 1. Cathy, Lauren, Shawn and I went to see it tonight.
After last night's software debacle and less than 4 hours of broken sleep, I didn't think I would make it through 3 hours of Shakespeare, but I pulled through like a champ. It was entertaining and well done. And so fun to talk with Michael after the show... Wish I had taken a photo with him rather than posting the program. :-/
